Balochistan: Dr. Naseem Baloch, Chairman of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), has reacted strongly on social media to the recent meeting between the foreign secretaries of Bangladesh and Pakistan, the first official dialogue between the two countries in fifteen years. Addressing the long-standing demand for an apology over the atrocities committed during the 1971 war, Dr. Naseem Baloch stated that Bangladesh is fully justified in seeking a public apology from Pakistan.
He described the genocide of Bengalis as one of the darkest chapters of the 20th century and lamented that Pakistan has never been held accountable for those crimes. “This lack of accountability has set a dangerous precedent”.
Dr. Naseem Baloch emphasized that the failure to deliver justice to Bangladesh has emboldened Pakistan to repeat similar atrocities in Balochistan today. “Enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, mass graves, and a brutal campaign to silence an entire nation continue unabated”.
“Accountability is not just about the past,” he added. “It is essential to prevent history from repeating itself. Pakistan must not only apologize to Bangladesh but must also be held responsible for the ongoing Baloch genocide.”
