Paank Urges Global Human Rights and Press Bodies to Act on Threats to Baloch Journalist

We urge national and international human rights bodies, press freedom organizations, and civil society to take urgent notice of this grave situation.

Gwadar: Paank, the human rights wing of the Baloch National Movement, has expressed deep concern and strong condemnation over the recent death threats received by Baloch journalist Javed MB Baloch, based in Gwadar.

According to reports, the journalist has received anonymous phone calls containing chilling threats, including statements like “apne kafan ki tayari karna” (“prepare your shroud”), in what appears to be an attempt to intimidate and silence his voice.

Paank labeled these threats as a direct attack on press freedom and the right to report without fear. The organization declared its full solidarity with Javed MB Baloch and all other journalists who continue to risk their lives to report the truth from Balochistan.

Paank called on relevant authorities to:

  • Conduct a thorough investigation into the threats,
  • Ensure the journalist’s safety,
  • And hold those responsible accountable.

Journalism is not a crime. Speaking truth is not terrorism, The organization urged both national and international human rights institutions, press freedom groups, and civil society to take urgent notice of this serious situation and act to protect journalists working under life-threatening conditions in Balochistan.
