Dr. Naseem Baloch, Chairman of the Baloch National Movement, stated on X (formerly Twitter):
“Once again, the Pakistani state has demonstrated fascism by arresting the father of prominent Baloch activist Dr. Sabiha Baloch, not on the basis of any crime, but solely in retaliation for her struggle to bring the truth about Balochistan to the world.”
He added, “This arrest is not an isolated incident, it is part of the organized policy of collective punishment in Balochistan, which has now become routine. When activists speak out against enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, military operations and human rights violations, the state targets not only them but their families, neighbors and entire communities with threats and harassment.”
Dr. Naseem Baloch continued, “In this blatant fascist tactic, the state has targeted Dr. Sabiha Baloch’s father in the hope of silencing a daughter’s voice through emotional blackmail.”
He stated, “In Pakistan’s colonial mindset towards Balochistan, even the mere concept of resistance is punishable, not only for the resistors themselves but for every individual associated with them. This act violates all international human rights principles. Punishing a family for the peaceful political struggle of an activist is a hallmark of fascist states.”
He concluded by saying, “We must stand together. This is the collective struggle of all those who believe in justice, freedom and the right to speak the truth.”
