The Vice Chairman of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), Mama Qadeer Baloch, has expressed deep concern over the worsening situation in Balochistan, stating that peaceful protesters are being brutally killed. He described Mahrang Baloch as a powerful voice of the Baloch nation and stressed the urgent need for her and her companions’ release.
Highlighting the case of Bebagr Baloch, a young human rights activist, he noted how Bebagr has fearlessly advocated for human rights despite being confined to a wheelchair. His forced disappearance, along with his brother, is part of a broader crackdown in Quetta, where dozens have been detained, including prominent activists and peaceful citizens many of them human rights defenders long targeted by state repression. This cycle of injustice, he insisted, must come to an end.
Mama Qadeer condemned the security forces’ actions, pointing out that people in Quetta, were engaged in a peaceful protest for their legitimate rights demands that neither threaten the state’s existence nor violate its constitution. Addressing these grievances, he argued, would reinforce the rule of law. Instead, security forces have resorted to firing on demonstrators across Balochistan. In Quetta, Habib, Imdad, and 12-year-old Naimat were killed, with Naimat shot in the chest. When people gathered again with their bodies to seek justice, police responded with more violence, seizing the corpses and suppressing the mourners. He called this a stain on humanity and urged solidarity with the oppressed.
VBMP’s peaceful protest camp has now entered its 5,769th day in the fight for the recovery of forcibly disappeared persons. On Sunday, Shaal’s political and social activists, including Noor Muhammad Baloch, Faiz Muhammad Baloch, and several women, visited the camp to express their support.
Reaffirming his unwavering commitment, Mama Qadeer stated, “As long as even a single individual remains forcibly disappeared, we will continue our protest through every possible means. We are amplifying the voices of the victims’ families across the world and demanding justice.”
