QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: The United Baloch Army (UBA) has claimed responsibility for setting up a roadblock on the Quetta-Sibi National Highway (N-65) in Bolan, Balochistan.

In a statement issued on Oct 12 by spokesperson Mazar Baloch, the group said its fighters set up the checkpoint at Kartag Siyah Pusht at about 6pm the previous evening and carried out “snap checking” for roughly an hour and a half. The group said its members questioned people travelling on the highway and searched vehicles and individuals they considered suspicious.

The group said the aim was to monitor the movement of security forces and “suspicious persons.” It added that it would continue such actions until what it called an independent Balochistan was achieved.
