QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for an operation in Kharan in which it said two state operatives were killed and two others, including the head of a “death squad” network, were taken into custody.
According to BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch, the group’s fighters carried out a coordinated operation on the night of July 18, 2026, in the Kulan area of Kharan, targeting a network the group says was cultivated by the state. The group said its fighters surrounded the hideout of an individual identified as Hafiz Kabir, described by the group as a key operative.
The group said that during the operation, Hafiz Kabir’s son, identified as Abdul Hakeem, attempted to resist and was shot dead by the fighters in as a retaliatory response. The group said Hafiz Kabir was taken into custody along with another son, identified as Hafiz Naveed, and that both would be presented before the “Baloch National Court” following what it called a complete investigation.
In a separate operation the same night, the group said its fighters shot dead an individual identified as Ghami Sasoli in the Gwash area of Kharan, describing him as a “national criminal” and close associate of an state operative named Sufi Mumtaz. The group said that Sasoli had surrendered to authorities in 2015 alongside another individual, Ahmed Nawaz Sasoli, and had since remained active against what the group calls the Baloch national struggle. The group further said that after Ahmed Nawaz’s death, Sasoli joined a network led by Sufi Mumtaz and accused him of involvement in forced abductions of Baloch youth, extrajudicial killings, theft, and robbery in the area.
The BLF said it was claiming responsibility both for the detention of Hafiz Kabir and Hafiz Naveed, and for the killings of Abdul Hakeem and Ghami Sasoli. The group said the fate of the two men in its custody would be determined by “Baloch National Court” following further investigation.
