QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: The protest camp organized by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) against enforced disappearances in Balochistan, set up outside the Quetta Press Club, continued for its 6,229th consecutive day.

The wife of Mir Taj Muhammad Sarpara contacted VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch, telling him that her husband was forcibly disappeared on July 19, 2020, after being taken into custody by personnel of state institutions while on his way from home to the airport in Karachi. She said six years had passed since his enforced disappearance, and that no information about him had been provided to date.

She said her husband’s case had remained under hearing before the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances over the past six years and that she had approached every relevant forum for his recovery but had not yet received justice. She appealed to political parties, student organizations, human rights groups and all sections of society to raise their voices for the recovery of Mir Taj Muhammad Sarpara and all other missing persons.

VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch assured Sarpara’s wife that the organization would continue raising the issue at every possible forum to secure her husband’s safe recovery. He demanded that authorities provide information about Mir Taj Muhammad Sarpara and all other missing persons to their families, and ensure their recovery to end the prolonged suffering of their relatives.
