QUETTA: Dr. Sabiha Baloch, central leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, has strongly condemned the media trial and harassment of disappeared women in Balochistan, highlighting the systematic use of enforced disappearances as tools of blackmail and intimidation.
Sharing her statement on the social media platform X, Dr. Sabiha Baloch stated that Farzana Zahri, who has been forcibly disappeared since December 1, 2025, has been made the subject of a highly controversial media narrative. According to Dr. Baloch, such actions are not isolated incidents but part of a deliberate campaign to silence Baloch activists and manipulate public opinion against peaceful human rights defenders.
She emphasized that Farzana Zahri’s case has been consistently raised at both national and international levels, and that enforced disappearances in Balochistan are increasingly being used to exert pressure, intimidate families, and discredit activists through orchestrated media trials.
Dr. Sabiha Baloch further noted that the practice of abducting vulnerable individuals, subjecting them to prolonged detention and then presenting them in the media to tarnish reputations represents a grave violation of human rights. She said that this pattern not only affects the disappeared but also spreads fear, undermines trust within the community and hampers peaceful activism in Balochistan.
“Media trials and harassment of disappeared women are part of a broader campaign to silence dissenting voices and intimidate activists. These tactics are unacceptable and must be condemned by the international community,” Dr. Baloch said.
She called upon civil society, human rights organizations, and media outlets to raise their voices against these violations before all independent voices are silenced. Dr. Sabiha Baloch reaffirmed her commitment to continue advocating for justice, accountability, and the protection of human rights in Balochistan.
