QUETTA: The protest camp organized by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) against enforced disappearances in Balochistan has entered its 6106th day in front of the Quetta Press Club.
People from different walks of life continue to visit the protest camp to express solidarity with the families of missing persons, who have been raising their voices for the recovery of their loved ones.
On this occasion, the family of Saifullah, son of Ataullah, who was subjected to enforced disappearance on the night of March 12, also visited the protest camp. According to the family, Saifullah was taken into custody at around 2 a.m. from the Mano Jan Road area of Quetta by personnel of the Counter Terrorism Department Pakistan (CTD) along with other state institutions.
Family members stated that Saifullah was returning home with his friends after playing a night football match at Ayub Stadium Quetta when he was detained. Despite several days passing since the incident, no information has been provided about his whereabouts. They also said that the concerned police station has refused to register a First Information Report (FIR) regarding Saifullah’s disappearance, leaving the family in severe mental distress.
The family submitted all details of Saifullah’s disappearance to VBMP and appealed to the organization to play its role in seeking justice and ensuring his recovery.
Speaking on the occasion, VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch assured the family that Saifullah’s case would be presented to the commission on missing persons as well as the provincial government. He said the organization would continue raising its voice at every forum for the safe recovery of Saifullah.
Nasrullah Baloch also urged the government and relevant authorities to immediately produce the missing persons and end the mental suffering faced by their families.
