QUETTA: Dr Shalee Baloch, an organizer of the Baloch Women Forum, has expressed serious concern over the recovery of bodies in Panjgur, saying the situation reflects a worsening human rights crisis in Balochistan.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Dr Shalee Baloch said that more than 22 bodies of young men have been recovered in Panjgur over the past two months. According to the statement, many of the victims had previously been subjected to enforced disappearance after being taken into custody and their bodies were later discovered under troubling circumstances.
She said that for years families across Balochistan have been raising their voices about ongoing crisis of enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings and denial of justice. Many parents and relatives, she noted, continue searching for loved ones who disappeared without any legal process or accountability.
Dr Shalee Baloch also emphasized that international human rights principles clearly state that no individual should be detained without due process and that every person has the right to a fair and transparent trial before an independent court of law.
She further said that enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings represent serious violations of these principles and undermine the rule of law, adding that the situation in Balochistan requires an immediate and impartial investigation by independent bodies.
