Curfew in Zehri and Military Operation in Surab Put Thousands of Civilians at Risk, Says Baloch Yakjehti Committee

BYC

QUETTA: The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has strongly condemned the ongoing curfew in Zehri and the large-scale military operation in the Surab, stating that the actions have placed the lives of thousands of civilians at serious risk.

In a statement, the organization said that a complete curfew has been imposed in Zehri for the past four days, causing severe difficulties for the local population. During the holy month of Ramadan, families are struggling to obtain food and other basic necessities. According to the statement, small children are crying due to hunger while sick individuals are unable to access hospitals or medicines.

The closure of all roads has cut off not only the town but also surrounding villages, leaving thousands of people stranded and unable to move between areas.

Meanwhile, the committee said that Pakistani forces have launched a large-scale military operation in Surab and nearby areas. According to the statement, a large number of military vehicles entered the region and house-to-house searches were carried out.

The BYC said that several houses were raided and doors and windows were broken during the searches, causing damage to private property. It further claimed that women and children were treated harshly, with reports of pushing and mistreatment, while household items and furniture were also damaged.

The organization stated that these actions are creating a serious humanitarian crisis for the local population, which is already facing significant hardship due to curfews and military operations.

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee urged the international community and human rights organizations to raise their voices against what it described as violations of fundamental human rights and to hold Pakistan and its institutions accountable.
