Quetta: The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has rejected the unilateral statement issued by BLA Azad on October 14, 2025, regarding the martyrdom of Abdul Baqi alias Lawang and Suleman alias Saddam, describing it as one-sided, misleading, and based on false claims. BLF paid tribute to the martyrs for their selfless struggle for the Baloch national cause and called for accountability of the perpetrators.
According to BLF, Abdul Baqi alias Lawang, son of Noor Muhammad Baloch and a resident of Gazg, Kalat, joined the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) in 2013, becoming an active participant in the Baloch national struggle. He was part of the camp commanded by martyr Mir Abdul Nabi Bangulzai. Like many other freedom fighters, Abdul Baqi became disheartened in 2015 due to internal differences within BLA. Exploiting this situation, influential state agents in the area orchestrated his surrender along with several other fighters. After a short period in Mach, Abdul Baqi’s patriotism and conscience compelled him to return to the struggle, reconnecting with BLA and other nationalist organizations, and began working closely with BLF sarmachars. During this period, he maintained communication with BLA Jeeyand’s Commander General and BLF’s Commander Shaheed Chakar.
In 2022, Abdul Baqi formally joined BLF, a fact that was known to BLA Jeeyand officials Waja General and Tokali Lehri at the time. Tokali later left BLA Jeeyand and joined BLA Azad.
Abdul Baqi’s brother, Suleman alias Saddam, also son of Noor Muhammad Baloch from Gazg, Kalat, joined BLF following Abdul Baqi’s entry. Together, the brothers actively contributed to BLF operations. Abdul Baqi provided services to urban networks, coordinated the safe transfer of urban comrades to training camps, handled logistics, and took part in armed activities. Suleman also participated in organizational work and operations.
On January 3, 2025, Suleman alias Saddam visited a mobile range for organizational work, where he was detained by BLA Azad personnel who claimed their official required him. When he failed to return home, BLF officials contacted Tokali, the commander of BLA Azad, seeking explanations. Tokali initially feigned ignorance and claimed lack of contact, though later evidence showed he was communicating regularly with his official, Jameel. Despite repeated assurances that Suleman would not be harmed, Tokali continued stalling.
On January 4, 2025, after a regional settlement in Robdar, Kalat involving BLF commander Mama Raees and other officials, Abdul Baqi went to his sister’s house in Robdar. Armed personnel of BLA Azad abducted him from there around 10 PM. BLF repeatedly contacted BLA Azad officials to secure the brothers’ safety, with assurances that nothing would happen, yet no action was taken.
Tragically, on January 5, Suleman’s tortured body was found in Gazg, and on the morning of January 6, Abdul Baqi’s bullet-riddled body was discovered in Robdar. Despite these losses, BLF exercised patience, tolerance, and foresight, continuing to communicate with BLA Azad and demanding interrogation of Tokali and his accomplices responsible for the martyrs’ deaths. BLA Azad eventually proposed forming a three-member joint committee from both organizations to investigate and identify the culprits.
When the committees met, BLA Azad declared both martyrs as state agents without presenting any evidence. BLF demanded solid proof, but BLA Azad repeatedly delayed, raising objections to committee members and citing unavailability of officials. After persistent stalling, BLF appointed two credible, impartial arbiters to ensure a fair resolution. Despite multiple meetings and efforts, BLA Azad continued to ignore the issue and failed to hold anyone accountable.
Finally, on October 14, 2025, BLA Azad issued a statement declaring Abdul Baqi and Suleman as State agents and took responsibility for their deaths. BLF condemned this statement, highlighting that Tokali, responsible for the martyrdom of both brothers, continues to threaten the surviving family members and prevent them from farming their land.
BLF further stated that Tokali is self-willed and misguided, lacking organizational discipline, defaming the nationalist movement, creating conflicts between organizations, and discouraging supporters. BLF demanded that BLA Azad’s high command hold Tokali and his accomplices accountable and deliver appropriate punishment, warning that if justice is not served, it will seek its own path to ensure accountability.
BLF also recalled that during the 2016/2017 split of BLA into BLA Azad and BLA Jeeyand, it supported Tokali for two years to prevent him from surrendering due to disappointment or coercion. Despite this support, Tokali maintained dual affiliations before ultimately joining BLA Azad, demonstrating duplicity.
Major Gwahram Baloch, Spokesperson of BLF, concluded the statement by reiterating BLF’s tribute to Shaheed Abdul Baqi and Shaheed Suleman for their unwavering dedication and sacrifice for the Baloch national cause.
