
Quetta: The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for two separate attacks carried out in Surab and Ormara, resulting in the deaths of six Pakistani security personnel and injuries to several others.
According to a statement issued by BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch, BLF fighters attacked a joint Frontier Corps (FC) and police checkpoint in Surab Bazaar on December 25 at around 6:00 pm. As a result of the attack, two FC personnel were killed and three others sustained injuries.
In a separate incident on the same day, BLF fighters targeted a Pakistani military camp in the Basol area of Ormara at approximately 5:00 pm. The statement said that a BLF sniper unit first targeted a soldier stationed at the camp’s security post, killing him on the spot. Taking advantage of the ensuing chaos, another unit of BLF fighters launched an assault on the camp using RPGs and other heavy weapons.
The attack reportedly resulted in the killing of three additional military personnel, while several others were injured.
The spokesperson added that Pakistani forces responded by opening indiscriminate machine-gun fire and launching mortar shells in various directions. However, BLF fighters safely withdrew from the area after completing the operation.
