Quetta: The Baloch Women Forum (BWF) has strongly condemned the enforced disappearance, torture, and subsequent death of a young woman, Nazia Shafi, in Panjgur, terming the incident “a result of the state’s barbaric policies against Baloch women.”
In a statement issued on Friday, the forum expressed deep sorrow over the incident, saying that Nazia Shafi and her mother were forcibly taken from their home in Panchi, Panjgur district, on October 28, 2025, by security forces. According to the BWF, the two women were later found in critical condition at the Panjgur District Hospital following severe physical assault and torture. Nazia succumbed to her injuries, while her mother remains in a serious condition.
The BWF said that the continuous human rights violations in Balochistan have shattered public trust in the existing system. “Baloch women are being deliberately targeted to violate our culture, traditions, values and to weaken Baloch society from within,” the statement read.
Terming Nazia’s case a part of a broader pattern of systemic abuse, the organization warned that “if silence persists, the consequences will be far worse than imagined.”
The forum demanded immediate accountability for those responsible for the “heinous crime” and urged the international community to take notice of ongoing violations in Balochistan.
“We, as a stakeholder Baloch body, cannot endorse the state’s illegal actions. We will continue to resist and raise our voices at every available platform,” said the BWF spokesperson.
The statement concluded by calling on global human rights organizations to pressure the Pakistani government and its institutions to halt further abuses against the Baloch people, particularly women.
