Quetta: The ongoing protest camp organized by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) against enforced disappearances in Balochistan continued for the 5,981st consecutive day in front of the Quetta Press Club, under the leadership of the organization’s chairman, Nasrullah Baloch.
People from various walks of life visited the protest camp and expressed solidarity with the families of missing persons.
A protester, Shafi Muhammad, visited the camp and submitted details regarding the enforced disappearance of his brother, Jamil Ahmed, to the VBMP.
According to Shafi Muhammad, his brother Jamil Ahmed, son of Ghulam Muhammad, was taken into custody at around 3 a.m. on the night between October 18 and 19 by CTD personnel in black uniforms from their home located in Killi Nabiabad near Gober Medani, Ghafoor Town, Quetta, in front of family members. He was then moved to an unknown location.
Shafi Mohammad added that he filed an application with the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Satellite Town Police Station to register an FIR, but it was refused. He then lodged a complaint with the CCPO office, yet no information has been provided regarding the reasons for his brother’s arrest or his whereabouts, leaving the family in deep distress.
VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch assured Shafi Muhammad that the organization would take up Jamil Ahmed’s case with the Commission on Missing Persons and the provincial government and raise their voice on every available platform to ensure his safe recovery.
Nasrullah Baloch condemned Jamil Ahmed’s enforced disappearance, calling it an extra-legal act and a serious violation of fundamental human rights. He demanded that if there are any charges against Jamil Ahmed, he should be brought before a court of law; otherwise, he must be released immediately to relieve his family’s suffering.
