Baloch Women Forum Condemns Human Rights Violations in Zehri, Calls for Immediate Ceasefire

Khuzdar: The Baloch Women Forum (BWF) has expressed grave concern over reports of human rights violations in Zehri town of Khuzdar district, including enforced disappearances, bombardment and widespread destruction of property.

In a statement issued by its central spokesperson, the Forum said that over the past few days, Zehri has witnessed “gross human rights abuses,” including the enforced disappearance of a woman and two men identified as Safia Bibi, Asad Zehri and Zahid Aziz, with fears of additional undisclosed cases.

The statement alleged that the town has been “cut off from the outside world,” with communication lines disrupted and residents facing continuous shelling and raids involving state forces. “The situation has turned the town into a living hell for the indigenous population,” the BWF said.

The organization condemned what it described as “military-centered policies” in Balochistan and demanded an immediate ceasefire and accountability for those responsible. It also urged authorities to recover the disappeared individuals, including Safia Bibi, whose detention, the Forum said, “violates Baloch traditions and Islamic principles prohibiting the wrongful confinement of women.”

BWF further claimed that several homes and properties were destroyed through aerial bombardment and shelling, while ripe crops were set ablaze. The statement added that residents’ freedom of movement has been severely restricted and communication systems have been shut down.

“We demand normalcy in Zehri, compensation for the losses suffered by residents and an end to all acts that violate the rights and dignity of the people,” the statement concluded.
