
The human rights organization Paank, affiliated with the Baloch National Movement (BNM), has released its monthly report for July 2025, documenting incidents of enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, torture and attacks on civilians in Balochistan. According to the report, the Pakistani military and its associated agencies forcibly disappeared at least 96 people and extrajudicially killed 19 others during the month.
District Kech was the most affected, with 29 cases of enforced disappearance reported. It was followed by Quetta (17 cases), Gwadar (9), Awaran (8), Washuk (7), Karachi and Panjgur (5 each), Noshki and Dera Ghazi Khan (3 each) Dera Bugti, Mastung and Lasbela (2 each). One case each was reported from Khuzdar, Kalat, Chaghi and Islamabad.
The report also highlighted the arrest of eight-year-old Shoaib Khalid from Turbat, who was detained for sharing on social media a video of human rights activist Gulzar Dost’s speech.
Paank further documented the July 10 rocket attack by Frontier Corps (FC) on a playground in Gorkop, Kech district. The attack injured seven civilians. Among them, Ali Ghulam later succumbed to his injuries, Shahab Dost del remains in a coma, while others are under critical treatment. Locals accused the FC of deliberately targeting civilians and demanded an independent investigation.
According to the report, extrajudicial killings remain a grave concern. At least 19 people were killed in July, including: Karim Jan (Mashkay, Kandari), Hammal Baloch (Tump, Gomazi), Ghulam Jan (Awaran, Paho), Azmat Rind (Dera Murad Jamali), Mujahid Baloch (Kharan), Shahdar Mengal (Chaghi, Nokundi), Hameed Baloch (Awaran, Koto Jhao), Nazir Ahmed (Jhao, Awaran), Noor Khan (Jhao, Awaran), Qambar Aslam (Khuzdar), Mazar Baloch (Mashkay, Kandari), Dr. Abdul Majeed Mengal, Atta-ur-Rehman Mengal, and Mumtaz Mengal (Wadh, Khuzdar), Ali Ghulam (victim of the Gorkop rocket attack, Kech), and Shah Jahan (Panjgur, Chitkan).
Additionally, three mutilated bodies were recovered from the Kahuk area of Kalat. Their identities could not be confirmed as acid had been used to disfigure their faces.
