Islamabad: More than a dozen Baloch students have reportedly been detained by Islamabad police at the Secretariat Police Station in Islamabad.
Reports suggest that the students were allegedly targeted on ethnic grounds and are being interrogated in connection with alleged links to Baloch separatist groups.
Prominent human rights lawyer and activist Imaan Zainab Mazari is reportedly present inside the police station. However, conflicting information is circulating on social media regarding her status, whether she is in custody or there to provide legal assistance to the detained students.
Eyewitnesses have described the situation outside the police station as resembling a curfew, everbody is denied to entry and facing alleged mistreatment by police officers.
As of now, there has been no official statement clarifying the nature of the detentions or confirming the number of individuals in custody.
