The protest camp of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) against enforced disappearances continued for the 5,891st consecutive day in front of Quetta Press Club.
VBMP Executive Committee member Niaz Nichari stated in a released statement that Ghani Baloch was forcibly disappeared on May 27 this year while traveling from Quetta to Karachi on the Al-Munir coach. He was taken off the bus by personnel of state agencies at Khuzdar, taken into custody, and forcibly disappeared.
He added that the case of Ghani Baloch has been submitted at the organizational level to the Commission on Missing Persons and the provincial government. His family has also approached the Balochistan High Court, but so far neither has he been produced in any court, nor has his family been provided with any information about his whereabouts.
“This is a matter of serious concern, which we strongly condemn. Once again, we appeal to the government and heads of state institutions that if there is any allegation against Ghani Baloch, he should be presented in court. If he is innocent, his immediate release must be ensured.”
He further stated that on completion of two months since Ghani Baloch’s enforced disappearance, his family will hold a peaceful protest demonstration on Sunday, July 27 at 4:30 PM in front of Quetta Press Club.
Niaz Nichari said, “We fully support this protest demonstration against the enforced disappearance of Ghani Baloch at the organizational level. We appeal to the families of missing persons, political parties, student organizations, and the people of Quetta to actively participate in the protest, become the voice of the affected family, and play their role in the safe recovery of Ghani Baloch.”
