University of Balochistan Students Demand Reopening of Hostels, Announce Boycott of Final Exams if Ignored

Quetta: Students of the University of Balochistan have issued a collective statement condemning recent administrative actions following a clash between two student organizations in the Univesity. In the statement, the students criticized the university administration for calling in police forces instead of resolving the issue through dialogue or internal disciplinary channels.

According to the students, the situation escalated when police were sent to the hostels late at night and forcibly evacuated them. At the time, the hostels were reportedly occupied by students who had no involvement in the earlier altercation.

“The administration failed to address the issue in a responsible manner. Instead of resolving the dispute at an organizational or administrative level, they brought in law enforcement, which only worsened the situation,” the statement read.

Students noted that the forced eviction occurred just days before the start of final-term examinations, creating serious obstacles for those who rely on university hostels for accommodation and study facilities. “Most of the hostel residents come from remote areas and have no alternative place to stay. The sudden closure of hostels is equivalent to sabotaging our academic progress,” they added.

The students have issued a clear demand: the immediate reopening of hostels to ensure their preparation for final exams is not disrupted.

They further warned that if hostels are not reopened before the exams, they will boycott the final-term examinations. “We, the students of the University of Balochistan, will not participate in any exams until our hostels are reopened,” the statement declared.

The students also appealed to faculty members and all student organizations to support their call for justice and academic continuity.
