Quetta June 23: The protest camp organized by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) against enforced disappearances continued for the 5,859th consecutive day in front of the Quetta Press Club.
On this occasion, political and social activists from Quetta, including Raheem Baloch, Noor Baloch, and Jaleel Baloch, visited the camp to express their solidarity with the families of the missing.
VBMP Vice Chairman Mama Qadeer Baloch, addressing the protest, condemned the ongoing military operations and human rights violations in Balochistan. He stated that the enforced disappearances, recovery of mutilated bodies, and other abuses stem from what he described as Pakistan’s illegal occupation of Balochistan. “The presence of Pakistani forces in Balochistan is a violation of international laws,” he added.
Mama Qadeer further alleged that for the past three days, Frontier Corps (FC) personnel have completely cordoned off areas including Kalat, Mangochar and Mach in Bolan. According to him, local residents are being continuously harassed, their movement restricted, and fear has gripped the entire region. Daily life in these areas has come to a standstill, with security personnel conducting regular patrols and apparent preparations underway for a large-scale military operation.
He claimed that FC and intelligence operations are intensifying across Balochistan and that security forces, in response to repeated failures, are targeting local populations to cover up their setbacks. “Despite all these oppressive tactics, Pakistani forces and intelligence agencies continue to face failure,” he asserted.
Mama Qadeer welcomed recent steps by the United Nations regarding the issue of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, calling them a positive development and a validation of the Baloch people’s stance. He criticized Pakistani institutions for ignoring the reality and relying on continuous falsehoods in response to international scrutiny.
