BNM Launches Campaign Marking 16 Years Since Enforced Disappearance of Dr. Deen Mohammad Baloch

The Baloch National Movement (BNM) has announced an awareness campaign to mark 16 years since the enforced disappearance of Dr. Deen Mohammad Baloch.

In a statement, BNM said that Dr. Deen Mohammad, a medical doctor, former Central Committee member, and prominent leader of the BNM, has been missing since June 28, 2009. He was abducted by the Pakistani army from Ornach, Khuzdar, and has been held in secret military torture cells ever since.

As of June 28, 2025, it will be 16 years since his disappearance.

BNM announced that it will organize various programs to highlight his case and raise public awareness. The group said the Pakistani army continues to use enforced disappearances as a systematic weapon against the Baloch national movement, describing it as a severe form of collective punishment.

The spokesperson stated that the Pakistani state seeks to normalize enforced disappearances so that the Baloch people silently accept them but this practice can never be normalized. Enforced disappearance is a crime against humanity, and international bodies must hold Pakistan and its military institutions accountable.

In commemoration of this day, BNM has urged its members, supporters, and human rights activists to use the following hashtags on social media:
#DrDeenMohammadBaloch
#StopEnforcedDisappearances
