Kech: Young Man Forcibly Disappeared and Killed by Pakistan-Backed Death Squad

Kech, Balochistan : A young man was forcibly disappeared and later killed by operatives of a Pakistan Army-backed death squad in the Kech, Balochistan, local sources confirmed.

The victim, identified as Wahid s/o Sawali, a resident of Nasirabad, was reportedly abducted from Turbat Civil Hospital on June 2 by members of a local death squad allegedly operating under the patronage of the Pakistani military. According to the victim’s family, Wahid had recently returned home from Dubai, where he had been working, and was visiting the hospital when he was taken by force.

After two days in captivity, Wahid’s mutilated body was recovered. Reports indicate that he was subjected to extreme torture — his hands and feet were severed before he was shot multiple times. His death has sparked outrage among locals and human rights advocates, who have condemned the extrajudicial killing and the ongoing pattern of enforced disappearances in Balochistan.

Enforced disappearances and killings of Baloch youth have become a recurring tragedy in the region, with dozens of individuals abducted, tortured, and murdered, often by state-linked actors. Victims are frequently found days later, their bodies dumped in remote or desolate areas.

Human rights organizations have long accused Pakistani security forces and their allied militias of carrying out systematic repression in Balochistan, targeting political activists, students, and civilians under the guise of national security operations.

As of now, there has been no official statement from the authorities regarding the incident. The family of Wahid has demanded justice and called for an independent investigation into the killing.
