Balgatar, Kech – The families of enforced disappeared persons have staged a sit-in protest on the M-8 highway, a key route linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), in the Balgatar area of Kech district. The protest has led to a complete halt of all traffic on the highway.
Women and children are among the protesters, who claim their loved ones have been forcibly disappeared without any justification. They are demanding the immediate recovery and safe return of the enforced disappeared individuals.
The demonstrators stated that the protest will continue and the road will remain blocked until their relatives are recovered. According to them, repeated appeals to the local administration have gone unheard, forcing them to take to the streets.
Due to the highway blockade, hundreds of vehicles are stranded on both sides of the road, effectively cutting off ground connectivity between Turbat, Gwadar, Panjgur, and Quetta. Travelers are facing severe difficulties, and no official efforts have been reported yet to resolve the situation or reopen the route.
