Quetta: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the targeted killing of Babul Muhammad Hasni, an alleged key operative of the Pakistani military and intelligence agencies, in an intelligence-based operation carried out in Quetta on Sunday night.
In a statement issued to the media, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said that the group’s Special Tactical Operations Squad (STOS) executed the attack based on precise intelligence provided by its internal wing “Zirab.”
According to the spokesperson, Babul Hasni, son of Zabar Muhammad Hasni, a resident of Kalat, was killed when a magnetic improvised explosive device (IED) was planted on his vehicle at a stop along Quetta’s Brewery Road. The blast also severely injured another individual identified as Nabeel, son of Muhammad Ameen, also from Kalat. Their vehicle was completely destroyed in the explosion.
The BLA claims that Babul Hasni was a key collaborator of the Pakistani military and its intelligence services and had direct ties with the notorious death squad member Zakaria Muhammad Hasni. He reportedly led an armed group active in Kalat city and surrounding areas.
The group further alleged that Babul operated a torture cell under the patronage of Pakistani forces, where Baloch youth were forcibly disappeared and subjected to inhumane treatment. His group is accused of establishing outposts, conducting armed patrols, and helping set up military checkpoints in areas such as Grap, Sar Khen, and other outskirts of Kalat. Additionally, the BLA claims the group was involved in enforced disappearances in Kohak, a region of the Manguchar area.
The statement concluded with a warning: “All individuals connected to Babul Hasni’s network have been identified, and the BLA’s intelligence wing continues to monitor them. We give one last opportunity to those linked to this network to surrender before the Baloch national forces — otherwise, they will face the same fate as Babul Hasni.”
