The protest sit-in against the enforced disappearance of Zahoor Sumalani in Mastung continues for the second day, blocking key national highways connecting Balochistan and severely disrupting traffic.
Today, protesters expanded their demonstration by completely blocking the Taftan to Quetta and Karachi National Highway at Lakpass. Earlier, a sit-in had been ongoing for 24 hours at Nawab Hotel, but now demonstrators have intensified their protest by also blocking the highway at Lakpass, leading to long queues of vehicles.
The sit-in participants have warned the government that if their demands are not met, they will extend road blockades across all of Balochistan.
Protesters claim that security agencies are not serious about recovering missing persons, and the officials sent for negotiations portray themselves as “powerless.” They have demanded that only those officials with full decision-making authority be sent for negotiations to ensure the recovery of Zahoor Sumalani and Syed Gul Syed Kalani.
The demonstrators have cautioned that if there is no serious effort to recover the missing persons, the protests will escalate further. They have called on the Baloch nation to join the movement and raise their voices against enforced disappearances.
Despite heavy rain and extreme cold, the protesters expressed gratitude to travelers and transporters for their patience and understanding, stating that they have no other option but to protest.
The protest participants have delivered a clear message to the government: their demonstration will continue until the missing persons are recovered.
