BYC Families Stage Sit-In Outside Hudha Jail, Demand Visitation Rights and End to Faceless Trial

Huda jail protest

QUETTA, BALOCHSITAN: Family members of detained Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leaders staged a protest sit-in outside Hudha Jail today, demanding the right to visit their detained relatives and calling for an end to the controversial “faceless trial” system.

The protest was organized in response to the jail administration’s refusal to allow families to meet with the detained leaders, which demonstrators described as a violation of their basic legal and humanitarian rights.

Meanwhile, inside Hudha Jail, BYC leaders themselves continued their own sit-in protest for the ninth consecutive day against the faceless trial proceedings. The leaders maintain that the faceless trial system is fundamentally incompatible with the principles of transparent justice and a fair trial, and cannot be accepted under any circumstances.

The families put forward three core demands:

  • Detained leaders must be granted the right to meet with their families
  • The notification authorizing faceless trials must be withdrawn
  • A transparent and open judicial process must be guaranteed

In a statement, BYC appealed to the Baloch people and all conscious segments of society to stand united and raise their voices for their rights.

“Today, the families sitting in protest are the families of those leaders who have always stood up for your rights, justice, and voice,” the statement read.

The committee urged civil society, human rights organizations, lawyers, and citizens to support the cause and speak out against what it described as an unjust and non-transparent judicial process.
