SINDH: The Jeay Sindh Freedom Movement (JSFM) has strongly condemned what it called ongoing state repression, political victimization, arbitrary arrests, and serious human rights violations against the leadership of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), naming Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Beebow Baloch, Gulzadi Baloch, Sibghatullah Shahji Baloch, and other detained Baloch leaders.
The statement was issued by Sohail Abro, Chairman of JSFM.
JSFM said that state institutions are employing intimidation, coercion, and various forms of repression to silence Baloch political activists, human rights defenders, and leaders of the Baloch national movement. The group said the actions taken against Dr. Mahrang Baloch and the BYC leadership are inconsistent with internationally recognized principles of human rights, freedom of expression, freedom of assembly, and political participation.
The organization further claimed that access to justice for political activists and leaders of oppressed nations in Pakistan has become a matter of serious concern. JSFM said the involvement of state institutions, particularly the military and intelligence agencies, in political affairs has raised grave concerns regarding the independence and impartiality of the country’s judicial and legal system, adding that prospects for justice for Baloch political prisoners appear severely limited under such circumstances.
JSFM expressed full national, political, and humanitarian solidarity between the Sindhi and Baloch nations, stating that for decades both peoples have endured state repression, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, political persecution, and widespread human rights abuses. The group said the Sindhi nation regards the suffering of the Baloch people as part of its own struggle.
JSFM appealed to the United Nations, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and other international human rights organizations to take immediate notice of the alleged repression, arbitrary detentions, enforced disappearances, and human rights violations against BYC leadership and the Baloch people.
The group called on international institutions to:
- Initiate independent investigations into the human rights situation in Pakistan
- Hold the Pakistani state accountable for alleged violations of international human rights principles, treaties, and legal obligations
- Take concrete steps to ensure justice, protection, and safeguarding of fundamental rights for oppressed nations and their peoples
JSFM concluded its statement by reaffirming what it called its unwavering solidarity with the Baloch nation, Dr. Mahrang Baloch, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, and all political prisoners, stating it remains committed to raising its voice for the national, human, and democratic rights of the oppressed peoples of Sindh and Balochistan.
