QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: At least 11 Pakistani security personnel, including a Pakistan Army Major, were killed in two separate militant attacks in Balochistan, officials said.

In the first incident, an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in the Chamalang area, killing Major Tawseef Ahmad Bhatti along with four other army personnel. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the identity of the deceased officer.

In a second, near-simultaneous attack, armed militants ambushed a convoy of more than 20 trailer trucks carrying minerals reportedly gold in the Sheikh Wasil area near Noshki in Mastung. A large number of attackers used rockets and other heavy weapons to target both the vehicles and their military escort. Six Pakistani security force personnel providing protection to the convoy were killed, and multiple trucks were destroyed.

The total death toll from both attacks stands at 11 security personnel.

The Baloch separatist groups have previously claimed similar attacks targeting security personnel of “exploitative companies” operating in Balochistan, seizing weapons in operations across Balochistan.

No immediate official claim of responsibility had been issued at the time of reporting. Security forces have launched a response operation in the affected areas.
