ISLAMABAD Amnesty International has called for the release of several Baloch activists, stating that nearly a year has passed since their arrest and they remain in detention.
According to the organization, Mahrang Baloch, Bebarg Zehri, Beebow Baloch, Shah Ji Sibghatullah, and Gulzadi Baloch were arrested on unfounded charges due to their peaceful political activities and have since been kept in custody.
The organization stated that the activists are currently being held at Huda Jail in Quetta, where their trial is reportedly being conducted inside the prison in a secretive manner. The statement also said that the detainees are not being provided adequate medical facilities, adding that there are reports that Mahrang Baloch’s health has significantly deteriorated during detention.
Amnesty International urged the Government of Balochistan and relevant authorities to immediately release all detained Baloch activists and withdraw the cases filed against them.
