State Repression Against the Baloch Nation a Test of Global Conscience: BYC

BYC

QUETTA: The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has criticized global silence over state repression against the Baloch people, calling it a serious test of the international community’s commitment to human rights.

In a statement, the committee said that the world claims to uphold human dignity and human rights in the 21st century, with numerous international institutions established to protect these values. However, it argued that despite these claims, the situation in Balochistan continues to reflect severe human rights concerns.

According to the statement, incidents such as killings, enforced disappearances and the discovery of mutilated bodies have created widespread fear and suffering among families in Balochistan. The organization claimed that in some cases, families have endured prolonged grief while searching for missing relatives, and communities continue to face insecurity and hardship.

The committee also stated that while Balochistan’s natural resources are frequently discussed at global policy forums, the humanitarian situation faced by its people rarely receives meaningful attention from international institutions.

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee questioned whether global human rights principles are applied equally to all nations and regions. It said the ongoing situation in Balochistan represents a test of the international community’s conscience and commitment to justice.

The organization urged international institutions to address the issue and ensure that internationally recognized human rights laws are implemented without discrimination.
