
QUETTA: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Dr. Shalee Baloch, Central Organizer of the Baloch Women Forum (BWF), emphasized the historic role and contributions of Baloch women, stating that the day is not merely a symbolic event but a recognition of the struggles, sacrifices and social contributions of women worldwide.
In a statement, Dr. Shalee Baloch said that throughout Baloch history, women have symbolized courage, awareness, loyalty, and resistance. She noted that Baloch history and traditions clearly demonstrate that women have always played a vital role in preserving social values, honor, cultural identity, and collective dignity.
She highlighted that Baloch folklore and historical narratives contain numerous examples of women who displayed wisdom, loyalty, and resilience during challenging times. Figures such as Hani Baloch is remembered as symbols of loyalty, wisdom, and dignity, while Bibi Banari is regarded as a notable example of bravery and national honor.
According to the statement, the role of women in Baloch society has never been limited to the domestic sphere. Instead, they have long served as pillars of social consciousness, moral guidance, and collective responsibility. Dr. Shalee Baloch added that the strength and cultural survival of Baloch society have always been closely linked to the contributions of women.
She further stated that in the 21st century, as Balochistan faces various social, political, and humanitarian challenges, Baloch women are once again continuing this historic legacy by playing an active role in society. She said Baloch women are not only strengthening their families and communities but are also raising their voices for human dignity, social justice, education, and fundamental rights.
Dr. Shalee Baloch said the growing awareness among Baloch women reflects the understanding that women’s participation is essential in building a conscious and just society. She noted that the Baloch Women Forum has emerged as a platform representing the awareness, unity, and collective struggle of Baloch women.
The forum believes that women are not merely victims of social circumstances but are a powerful force for social change. According to the statement, Baloch women today are emerging as symbols of hope, resistance, and collective responsibility while working for a more dignified and prosperous future for coming generations.
Concluding the statement, Dr. Shalee Baloch reaffirmed the commitment to continue the struggle for the voice, dignity, and rights of Baloch women. She emphasized that a just, peaceful, and progressive society can only be achieved when women are given genuine opportunities for equality, respect, and leadership.
