QUETTA: The United Baloch Army (UBA) has claimed responsibility for the killing of police and Pakistani intelligence personnel in the Kachhi and Dhadar, Balochistan.
In a statement issued by UBA spokesperson Mazar Baloch, the group claimed that its fighters carried out an attack on February 5 in the Sanni area of Kachhi, targeting a man identified as Gul Muhammad Jatak, also known as Gullu, son of Sahib Dad Jatak. The spokesperson said that the individual was a state informant and said he was killed at the scene, adding that weapons were seized from him.
According to the statement, Gul Muhammad Jatak had been working for Pakistani intelligence agencies for several years. The spokesperson claimed that the individual and his associates had previously been warned but continued to provide information against Baloch fighters and were involved in tracking them, as well as in the arrests of civilians and Baloch youth in the area.
The statement further claimed that due to informant activities by Gul Muhammad Jatak and others, several Baloch youths had been arrested by security agencies in the past.
The UBA also claimed that during the night between February 4 and 5, its fighters encountered police personnel during a patrol near Kamri Bridge in the Dhadar area. According to the group, police personnel opened fire, after which UBA fighters returned fire, resulting in the death of one police officer. The group also claimed that a police vehicle was set on fire during the incident.
The spokesperson stated that such attacks would continue until the group’s stated objective of an independent Balochistan is achieved.
