Quetta: The protest camp organized by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) against enforced disappearances in Balochistan has completed its 6,042nd day under the leadership of VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch in front of Quetta Press Club.
On the occasion, individuals from various walks of life visited the camp to show solidarity with the families of missing persons and demanded the immediate recovery of all forcibly disappeared individuals, particularly Baloch women.
The family of Nasreen Baloch also participated in the protest and recorded their grievances. Speaking to international media representatives, they stated that Nasreen was forcibly taken into custody by security forces from Hub Chowki on November 22 of last year and transferred to an undisclosed location.
Her family said that they approached the relevant police station to file an FIR regarding her enforced disappearance, but the SHO refused to register it. They also attempted to hold a press conference at Hub Press Club, but the administration locked the venue, preventing them from protesting. Consequently, they traveled to Quetta and have been recording their protest at the VBMP camp for the past four days to draw the attention of senior authorities and demand justice under national law.
Chairman Nasrullah Baloch, speaking to media at the camp, said that state institutions are systematically violating national laws and human rights under the pretext of national security. He emphasized that enforced disappearances have intensified across Balochistan, now targeting women as well. He added that detainees are neither produced before courts nor are their families informed, leaving thousands of households in fear and anguish.
He further criticized government institutions, stating that bodies responsible for ensuring justice fail to act, and instead laws are being passed that protect extra-judicial actions, rather than addressing the root issue of enforced disappearances.
Nasrullah Baloch also highlighted the lack of international measures to prevent these illegal actions, which has allowed human rights violations in Balochistan to escalate. He urged that both national and international institutions, as part of their constitutional and moral duties, must take practical steps to stop extra-judicial actions, safeguard human rights, and ensure the safe recovery of all missing persons, especially Baloch women.
