Quetta: The National Democratic Party (NDP) held its 16th Central Organizing Body (COB) meeting on December 27, 2025, in Quetta, where the party reviewed its organizational performance, discussed regional and global political developments and expressed concern over the human rights situation in Balochistan, including enforced disappearances and recent cases involving women.

The meeting began with a minute of silence in memory of those described as martyrs of Balochistan. Participants paid tribute to human rights activist Mama Qadeer Baloch for his role in highlighting enforced disappearances. The seats of imprisoned NDP central leaders Ghani Baloch and Sanaullah Khetran Baloch were symbolically left vacant during the session as a mark of solidarity.

During the meeting, the party’s secretary presented a report outlining the NDP’s recent activities, achievements and challenges. Reports were also presented by the party’s Media, Literature and Finance Committees, detailing their respective work and future plans. Participants engaged in internal discussions and offered feedback aimed at improving organizational performance.

A major portion of the meeting focused on global and regional political developments. Participants discussed shifts in the international system, changes in power dynamics and the role of economic and corporate influence in global politics. The discussion noted that the current global order is undergoing a transitional phase, with implications for regional politics and resource management.

The meeting also addressed development projects in Balochistan, including CPEC, Saindak and Reko Diq. Participants raised concerns about transparency, public participation in decision-making and the impact of such projects on local communities. The strategic importance of Balochistan’s coastline and natural resources was also discussed.

Participants expressed concern over what they described as ongoing human rights violations in the province, including enforced disappearances, arrests under security laws and restrictions on political activity. Particular concern was raised over reports of enforced disappearances and arrests of women, which the party termed a serious issue.

Organizational matters were also reviewed, with emphasis on strengthening internal structures, improving cadre training, enhancing media outreach and expanding party literature. The meeting evaluated the performance of various party zones and adopted decisions aimed at improving coordination and effectiveness.
