QUETTA: The Baloch National Movement (BNM) condemned on Monday what it described as a “brutal military operation” by Pakistani forces in the Zehri area of Khuzdar district, alleging that several men, women and children were killed during ground assaults and drone strikes.
In a statement, the pro-independence organization said the attacks represent a continuation of Pakistan’s “Genocidal policies” in Balochistan. According to the BNM, the military used drones and carried out indiscriminate bombardments and house raids, destroying villages and killing civilians.
“The use of drones against civilian populations marks a dangerous escalation in Pakistan’s war crimes,” the statement read. “Entire families have been targeted while international powers remain silent.”
The group announced plans to hold protests and awareness campaigns through its chapters worldwide. Demonstrations are expected in front of Pakistani embassies, consulates and international human rights organizations to draw attention to the situation and urge global intervention.
BNM called on the United Nations, international human rights bodies, and democratic governments to “break their silence and hold Pakistan accountable” for ongoing enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in the region.
Appealing to the Baloch diaspora and international supporters, the organization vowed to continue its struggle for independence, saying: “The blood of our martyrs will not be forgotten and the fight for a free and independent Balochistan will continue until victory.”
