KHUZDAR: A large-scale military operation is underway in Zehri town, about 120 kilometers from Khuzdar city, where Pakistani security forces have reportedly imposed a complete siege, creating a highly volatile situation.
Local accounts suggest that security personnel have demolished homes, torched standing crops, and damaged water resources as well as solar power systems, paralyzing the daily lives of residents.
A strict curfew has been enforced, with all access routes blocked. Food and medicine supplies remain cut off and residents are reportedly being denied hospital treatment and other basic healthcare facilities. Communication and transport services have also been shut down, isolating the population.
Reports from surrounding villages indicate intense shelling and mortar fire in Kuchho, Chashma and nearby areas. Cotton fields in Kuchho have been reduced to ashes, while residents of Chashma live in fear as shells continue to fall. In Dundar and Morenki, houses have been damaged, inflicting heavy financial losses on local farmers.
An internet and media blackout has been enforced across Zehri, preventing independent confirmation of casualties. Locals allege the blackout is aimed at concealing the extent of the military action from the outside world.
Observers warn that the operation further deepens the humanitarian crisis in Balochistan, where accusations of state repression and collective punishment remain widespread.
