KHUZDAR, BALOCHISTAN: The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), has claimed responsibility for a fidayeen (suicide) attack on the main military compound of Shafiq Mengal in Khuzdar city, whom the group referred to in its statement as a “state agent” and accused of collaborating with Pakistani authorities.
According to the BLA’s statement, the attack was carried out while Shafiq Mengal was holding a meeting with members of what the group called his “militia” at the compound.
The group claimed the operation began when a fighter from its “Majeed Brigade” unit rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the compound, which it said destroyed the perimeter and outer defense lines within seconds. The BLA claimed that additional fighters then entered the compound following the blast.
According to the group’s statement, more than 20 people were killed in the attack, and Shafiq Mengal himself was reportedly present at the compound as of the latest information available to the group. The BLA said the operation was still ongoing at the time of the statement.
The group said a detailed report with further figures and statistics would be released by its media sources once the operation concludes.
The statement was issued by BLA spokesperson Jeeand Baloch, dated July 8, 2026.
