Quetta: The protest camp organized by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) against enforced disappearances in Balochistan continued for the 6,114th consecutive day in front of the Quetta Press Club. The camp is being led by the organization’s chairman, Nasrullah Baloch.
During the protest, participants from various walks of life joined to express solidarity with the families of the missing and record their opposition to enforced disappearances. The demonstrators demanded that the government immediately end enforced disappearances and ensure the safe return of the missing individuals.
Speaking at the camp, Nasrullah Baloch described enforced disappearances as a serious violation of national laws and human rights, calling them one of the major humanitarian crises of this century. He stated that thousands of people remain missing in Balochistan, causing severe emotional and psychological distress to affected families.
He further noted that enforced disappearances and extrajudicial actions are increasing insecurity among the public and eroding trust in state institutions, which he said is detrimental to the country.
Nasrullah Baloch urged the government and relevant authorities to address the issue seriously and act on humanitarian grounds. He called for the immediate recovery of missing persons, an end to enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings, and implementation of concrete measures to prevent further violations.
The chairman concluded by reaffirming the organization’s commitment to continue peaceful and constitutional struggle for the recovery of missing persons and against enforced disappearances.
