QUETTA: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for 14 separate attacks across several areas of Balochistan, stating that 14 Pakistani security personnel were killed and multiple security installations were targeted.
In a statement released by BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch, the group said its fighters carried out operations in the regions of Kolwah, Mastung, Sorab, Turbat, Sami, Nawano and Dasht.
According to the statement, BLA fighters targeted Pakistani security forces, their auxiliary units, and “death squads.” The group also claimed it temporarily took control of several police stations, detained personnel, and seized weapons. During some of the operations, fighters reportedly set up road blockades on major highways and conducted snap-checking for several hours.
The spokesperson said that on February 16, BLA fighters targeted Pakistani military foot patrols and a convoy in the Balor area of Kolwah while they were advancing in the region, claiming one soldier was killed and two others were injured.
On February 24, the group said it ambushed advancing troops in the Gargina area of Mastung at night. According to the claim, security forces attempted to advance again the following day but were attacked once more. The BLA said that four soldiers were killed and at least seven others injured in the clashes.
On February 26, fighters reportedly set up a blockade on the Quetta–Karachi highway in Sorab. The group said it later targeted an armored vehicle belonging to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) with a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED), claiming the vehicle was disabled and one officer was killed.
The same day, the group claimed it took control of a police station in the Kalatuk area near Turbat, seizing weapons and destroying a surveillance tower with explosives after maintaining a road blockade for around two hours.
According to the statement, another attack was carried out on March 1 in the Kardgap area of Mastung, where BLA fighters claimed to have targeted advancing Pakistani forces, causing casualties and damage. On the same day, a vehicle in a military convoy was reportedly targeted with an IED in the Nawano area of the Kech.
The BLA further claimed that on March 3, fighters established a blockade on a highway near Nods, close to Turbat, for more than two hours. During an attempt by security forces and allied groups to intervene, the fighters attacked the convoy, damaging an armored vehicle and killing three personnel.
Later that night, the group said its Special Tactical Operations Squad (STOS) ambushed a military convoy in the Nasirabad area of Turbat using advanced weapons and thermal scopes. According to the claim, three vehicles including an armored one were hit, resulting in five security personnel killed and several injured.
Additional attacks were reported the same day in the Sami (Kalg) area of Kech, where rockets were fired at a military post, and on March 4 in the Haftari area along the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor route, where a military convoy vehicle was targeted with a remote-controlled IED.
