QUETTA: The protest camp organized by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) against enforced disappearances continued for the 6098th day on Friday in front of the Quetta Press Club under the leadership of the organization’s chairman Nasrullah Baloch.
People from different walks of life visited the protest camp and expressed solidarity with the families of missing persons. Participants also recorded their protest against enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings, demanding an end to such practices and calling for the recovery of missing Baloch individuals.
During the protest, the family members of Abdul Razzaq Pirkani contacted the organization and informed them about his disappearance. According to the family, Abdul Razzaq Pirkani, son of Abdul Ghani and a resident of Marriabad Machh in Kachhi, was taken into custody by security forces on January 10 this year from the petroleum pump of Abdul Ghaffar Qalandrani and was subsequently moved to an undisclosed location.
The family stated that they had repeatedly approached the local administration to learn about the reasons for Abdul Razzaq’s arrest and his whereabouts. However, they said the authorities have neither provided information about the reasons for his detention nor confirmed his condition, leaving the entire family in severe distress.
Speaking on the occasion, Nasrullah Baloch assured the family that the organization would raise Abdul Razzaq’s case with relevant authorities and continue to highlight the issue on different forums to ensure his safe recovery.
The chairman of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons urged the government to ensure the recovery of Abdul Razzaq and all other missing persons. He said that if there are any allegations against them, they should be presented before a court of law and granted the right to legal defense so that their families can be relieved from the suffering caused by enforced disappearances.
