QUETTA: The Baloch Students Organization (Azad) has accused Pakistani security forces of committing widespread human rights violations during a month-long military operation in Zehri town, Khuzdar district, claiming that drone strikes, house raids and curfews have created a “dire humanitarian crisis.”
In a statement issued on Monday, a BSO-Azad spokesperson alleged that the ongoing operations involved indiscriminate bombardments and repeated drone attacks that killed civilians, including women and children. The group also accused the military of enforcing collective punishment and imposing severe movement restrictions that have paralyzed daily life in the area.
According to the statement, residents are living in fear following the killing of six civilians in recent drone strikes and the abduction and subsequent murder of a young man while he was on his way to the market.
The organization further referred to an incident last week in which 20 bodies were reportedly brought to Quetta Civil Hospital. BSO-Azad claimed that the remains, believed to be those of Baloch civilians, were later buried in Dasht, Mastung, without DNA identification, describing the burials as part of a broader pattern of “fake encounters” and attempts by state authorities to conceal the truth.
“By bombing our towns and murdering our children, they will never crush the spirit of the Baloch people,” the spokesperson said, adding that the assaults have only strengthened the Baloch national movement.
The group called on the international community, human rights organizations, and global media to take immediate notice of what it described as escalating atrocities in Zehri and to hold Pakistan accountable for the ongoing violence in Balochistan.
