CHAGHI, BALOCHISTAN: Armed assailants seized four vehicles from a commercial convoy near a gas plant close to Chehtar in Chaghi district and opened fire on them, rendering the vehicles unusable, officials said.
The vehicles were targeted while traveling through the area as part of a larger convoy that was being escorted by security forces at the time of the attack.
The incident comes just days after a similar assault in Chaghi’s Charsar area on Sunday, in which armed men attacked commercial vehicles along with the security forces escorting them. That attack has been confirmed to have killed three security personnel.
It is worth noting that this route has come under repeated attack by Baloch armed groups, with heavy vehicles remaining their primary target. Previously, such vehicles travelled without any security escort. In recent times, however, they have begun moving in convoys accompanied by security forces for protection, yet even this arrangement has not deterred the attackers, who have continued targeting both the security personnel and the heavy vehicles alike.
