Mohsin Dawar Attends BHC Hearing in Solidarity with Dr. Mahrang Baloch, BYC Leaders

Mohsin Dhawar

QUETTA: National Democratic Movement (NDM) central president Mohsin Dawar appeared at the Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Wednesday to express solidarity during the hearing of the case against Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leaders. He was accompanied by NDM’s central and provincial leadership.

During the visit, Dawar and other party leaders met with Nadia Baloch, sister of Dr. Mahrang Baloch, and reaffirmed their support for the ongoing legal battle.

In a statement issued on social media platform X following the hearing, Nadia Baloch said official notices had been issued by the BHC regarding appeals filed against the life sentences handed to Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Sibghatullah Shahji. She described the sentences as unjust, saying they stemmed from her sister’s peaceful advocacy for human rights in Balochistan.

She welcomed Dawar’s presence at the hearing, calling it a reminder that the family and BYC leadership were not alone in their struggle, and thanked him for his support.

Separately, Nadia Baloch noted that the Supreme Court of Pakistan has also taken up related matters, having issued notices on three bail petitions filed on behalf of Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Beebagr Baloch, and Beebow Baloch. She said the family hoped the higher judiciary would deliver justice in the case, calling it essential to restoring public trust in the legal system.
