KARACHI, SINDH: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has presented two individuals, previously reported as victims of enforced disappearance, as newly arrested suspects with alleged links to an armed organization.

According to reports from Karachi, a CTD spokesperson told journalists on Tuesday that two members of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) had been taken into custody during a joint operation by the CTD and a federal intelligence agency in Karachi.

The CTD spokesperson claimed the detained individuals had been planning attacks on sensitive installations and law enforcement offices in Karachi.

The CTD identified the men as Farid Baloch and Mujahid Baloch. However, according to family accounts, both young men had been forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces last December from the Tajaban area of Kech, Balochistan.

Relatives said 17-year-old student Farid, son of Ejaz, was reported missing on December 19, 2025, after being summoned to an FC camp in the Tajaban area of Kech. Similarly, 18-year-old student Mujahid Dilawaish was reportedly taken into custody by Pakistani forces from the same area on December 23 last year, after which neither young man had been seen or heard from since.

It is worth noting that the CTD has previously presented individuals who had been victims of enforced disappearance as newly arrested members of armed organizations, in cases from Karachi and other areas with several such individuals later reportedly killed in what were described as staged encounters.

The families of the two men rejected the CTD’s allegations, saying their sons had already been in state custody, and expressed fear that the CTD could cause them further harm.

The families, along with Baloch political organizations, have appealed to human rights bodies to take urgent notice of the matter and extend support to the affected families.
