
KHARAN, BALOCHISTAN: Armed individuals seized control of the Quetta-Kharan highway at the Nowroz Kalat in Kharan, conducting snap checks and searching vehicles for over two hours, sources reported.
According to sources, the armed individuals surrounded the entire area and stopped and searched passing vehicles on the highway. Nowroz Kalat is located approximately 30 kilometers from Kharan city and serves as the main highway connecting Kharan with Nushki and Quetta, making it a strategically sensitive and important route.
Sources also reported that a day earlier, armed individuals detained a man identified as Imam Bakhsh, son of Abdul Karim, from the Touskan area of Nowroz Kalat.
According to sources, armed individuals set up checkpoints on the main highways in Mastung, stopping and searching passing vehicles. During the operation, four trailer trucks were set ablaze and destroyed.
Sources from Mastung reported that the trucks were set on fire during a blockade in the Kurdgap area Mastung.
No casualties or damage were reported during the checkpoint operation. Armed individuals have frequently carried out similar highway blockades and snap checking operations in Kharan and other Areas of Balochistan, sources noted.
No group has claimed responsibility for the blockade at this time. Pakistani authorities have not issued any official statement regarding the incident.
