For Baloch Women, Rights, Equality and Freedom Are a Language of Survival: says Sammi Deen

QUETTA: On International Women’s Day, Sammi Deen, leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), spoke about the resilience and courage of Baloch women, calling their fight for rights, equality, and freedom “a language of survival.”

For decades, Baloch women were expected to remain inside their homes. However, with the enforced disappearances of fathers, brothers, sons, and husbands, many stepped into public resistance. Mothers approached police stations and courts, sisters carried photographs of the missing through streets and highways, and daughters grew up in protest camps instead of playgrounds.

“From Quetta to Karachi and Islamabad, Baloch women have marched, protested, and held vigils demanding one answer: where are our loved ones?” said Sammi Deen. Many now face imprisonment and fabricated charges, yet their voices remain unbroken.

BYC emphasized that the struggle of Baloch women is not only for their community but represents the courage of all women who refuse to accept injustice in silence.
