QUETTA: The United Baloch Army (UBA) has claimed responsibility for the killing of a deputy tehsildar from Quetta and a state informer in Kachhi, Balochistan.
In a statement issued to the media, UBA spokesperson Mazar Baloch said the group’s fighters carried out the operation on March 6 at around 12:30 p.m. on a highway connecting the areas of Nausham in Kachhi and Dhadar.
According to the statement, UBA fighters had established a road blockade when they signaled a suspicious vehicle to stop. However, the driver attempted to flee the scene, prompting the fighters to open fire. As a result, Sher Dil Abro was killed on the spot.
The spokesperson further claimed that during the blockade another individual, identified as Daulat Khan Kheeri, was detained. The group said that he was working as a state informer and had been previously wanted by Baloch insurgents.
According to the statement, during interrogation the detainee confessed to assisting state institutions in the arrest of several Baloch youths and identifying members of the Baloch nationalist movement. The group also claimed he admitted involvement in the killing of Ismail alias Sufi.
The statement added that the detainee had also provided the names of other informers working for the state in different areas of Kachhi and Dhadar and had been working with Pakistani intelligence agencies for several years.
The spokesperson said that after the confessions, a “Baloch national court” sentenced Daulat Khan Kheeri to death on charges of treason, and the sentence was carried out on March 6.
