QUETTA: The protest camp established against enforced disappearances by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) entered its 6,092nd consecutive day on Saturday outside the Quetta Press Club.
The camp continued under the leadership of VBMP Executive Committee member Niaz Muhammad. During the protest, the mother and young daughter of forcibly disappeared Mahmood Ali Langov participated and recorded their protest.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahmood Ali Lango’s mother stated that her son’s case is currently under hearing before the government-formed Commission on Missing Persons. She said that in compliance with the commission’s directive, she appeared before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) established in connection with her son’s case and pleaded that if there are any allegations against him, he should be brought before a court of law. She added that if he is innocent, his immediate release should be ensured to end the prolonged mental suffering of the family.
Addressing the gathering, Niaz Muhammad said that the enforced disappearance of a single individual subjects an entire family to severe psychological distress and disrupts their daily lives. On humanitarian grounds, he appealed to the government and heads of state institutions to ensure the recovery of Mahmood Ali Lango and all other missing persons so that their families may be relieved from what he described as lifelong anguish.
