QUETTA: A man has approached Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) seeking help regarding the enforced disappearance of his brother, Muhammad Rasheed.

According to Barkat Ali, his brother Muhammad Rasheed, son of Mola Bakhsh and a resident of Dera Bugti, was serving as a constable in the Balochistan Constabulary police. He was taken into custody by security forces in Quetta on 2 February 2021 and has been missing since.

Barkat Ali stated that he has repeatedly met government representatives and district administration officials in an effort to secure his brother’s safe recovery. However, he said no information has been provided regarding Rasheed’s whereabouts or well-being.

He added that the prolonged uncertainty has caused severe mental distress to the family, leaving their lives in a state of paralysis and anguish.

Chairman of VBMP, Nasrullah Baloch, urged the authorities to take immediate notice of the alleged enforced disappearance and ensure Muhammad Rasheed’s safe recovery. He emphasized that if there are any charges against Rasheed, he should be produced before a court of law and due constitutional process should be followed to end the prolonged suffering of his family.
